Pauline Stevens is a photographer, mother of four boys, foodie, and founder of Red Bird’s House. Somewhere between lunch boxes food became a big part of her visual world.

Her photography has always found its way back to food, still lifes, markets, and the everyday objects that make a home feel like home. That mix of motherhood, photography, and gathering around the table eventually became Red Bird’s House—where her photographs leave the frame and find their way onto useful things.

The House Brief is Red Bird’s House’s storytelling sister. Born from Pauline’s constant back-and-forth between Texas, New York City, and Mexico, it collects the places, objects, and brief observations that catch her eye along the way. Three very different worlds that, when put together, can feel surprisingly familiar.

These days, she moves happily between all of them—photographing food, making things, collecting stories, and always wondering what her four sons-now young adults had for dinner.
